Time to say good-bye

Here I am on the road again… on the road between my voluntarily social year and my life as a student at the university.

So my year with ARS BALTICA is over now. Looking back it was a great year full of new experiences, interesting persons and finding a way for my future, which will look like: First I am going to study pedagogics and musicology and then… well, we will see.

All in all I will miss the Nordkolleg and everything around it: the colleagues, the garden and of course the food. I am happy that I made this year but it is also a pity to go now.

Yesterday, we had or official farewell with a little buffet and a presentation of pictures and videos. It seems that the buffet was very good because after the event it looks like this:

I really learned a lot during this year and I want to thank all the people who went through it with me.

Only three weeks left

Hey there, long time ago that I wrote the last blog entry. As I told you I was two weeks on vacation. After that time there wasn’t much to tell, than I was another week on vacation at the Wacken Open Air Festival, and now my voluntarily social year will come to an end soon.

 

Before I went on vacation I had my second day of external education at Musiculum in Kiel where I together with an adviser coached children in a presentation about acoustic noise. It was very interesting to see how impressed the children were and how motivated to learn more about music. That day in this job mixed of music and education I found a possible job that I want to do in the future.

Thus my last day of external education, which will take place next Tuesday, I will be in an all-day school and in the afternoon in a youth center in Süderbrarup. I am very curious about it.

In the last days I had to do a lot for my voluntarily social year: I wrote a final report as a reflection of the last year, I organized a certificate of my work here and created transition data for the next volunteer or trainee who will take my work.

In two weeks I will visit my last seminar on Scheersberg, but more information I will give you after it.

2 weeks on vacation

Last weekend the Midsommar-Fest took place here at Nordkolleg-Rendsburg. Unfortunately I couldn’t be there but I heard that it was really good. I took a picture of the moment when the big "midsommar-stången" was built up (it seemed not to be very easy).

Last week I had my first day of external education of my voluntarily social year at "Schleswig-Holsteiner Landtag" in Kiel where we got in touch with the working process there and had a conversation with a reporter. Here some impressions:

Apropos vacation, this is my last week before I take a two weeks long vacation. So I hope the weather stays like it is now, so I can enjoy it.

A long week finished

Back in office, I look back on a long week of working but the result is satisfactorily.
 

From Sunday to Friday I visited the third seminar of my voluntarily social year on Scheersberg in Quern (Germany). I took part in a music workshop in which we created a song with instrumental and electrical parts. It was a very interesting experience to create a 15-minutes-long composition with lots of electrical effects, a drum kit, a clarinet, a piano, an e-bass, an e-guitar, a bagpipe, a harmonica and five acoustic guitars. That might sound like a big mess but it worked.

On Thursday every workshop presented its results and they were really good. Altogether there were nine workshops: music, audio drama, poetry slam, dance, policy, land art, space installation and sculptures and everyone did a great job.

On Monday I used the good weather and the wonderful countryside around the Scheersberg to play a little, lonely but loud bagpipe session.

On Saturday, after the seminar, I presented my voluntarily project – the exhibition of the ARS BALTICA accredited Baltic Comic workshop - within lots of other presentations by the Nordkolleg-Rendsburg. Many people came around to see the offering and a lot of them seemed to be interested in the presented comics. At the end of the day I was extremely tired but also happy that the whole week was so successful.

My volutarily project!

I already told you of my new project, the exhibition of Baltic Comic. Now, here is the official publication, the invitation and some pictures of the preparation:

ARS BALTICA will present an exhibition of comics created during the Baltic Comic workshop which took place at Nordkolleg Rendsburg in March. In this workshop Baltic, Scandinavian, Slavic, German and Dutch comic authors and translators came together for exchanging knowledge and experience.

During the workshop they learned about picture language and devised comic drafts, translated comics into German and drew interpretations of comics written in another language.

 

To get an insight of the working fields ARS BALTICA is active in, some comics will be presented at the event "Langer Tag der Kultur". Here you can get more information.
